As much as the “Intellectual vs “Everyday Thinker”, there is an often false distinction between “high art” with “craft” or “folk art”. Ironwork is particularly apt to show the failures of these categories. Perhaps even more importantly, the “hand” of the artist evident in custom made work brings us closer to the often alienated world of objects and people behind them. I work in everything from sculpture to practical hand rails and furniture. Current projects include the ongoing Miscegenation and Babel exhibits (I promise some photos soon!)
